  2. Γê½Memory Resident List File
  3. ΓÇó    The Address Book list file is memory resident, as opposed to reading each record as required from the disk. This makes searching for records or for text within records very fast. 
  4. ΓÇó    The ΓÇ£GotoΓÇ¥ function, that is, finding a record by pressing Command-G and typing the name as it appears in the index, is instantaneous.
  5. Γê½Data Base Size
  6. ΓÇó    Memory is allocated for the selected list file and an additional 100 records each time the program is run. 
  7. ΓÇó    Should you wish to add more than 100 new records in one session, you will have to Quit and reopen the DA to create space for another 100 records.
  8. ΓÇó    Address Book has a limit of 32000 but this would require over 20 meg of RAM.
  9. Γê½Selecting The List File
  10. ΓÇó    When the Address Book DA is opened, it looks for the list file via the stored path.  You can set the path by opening a list file and pressing the ΓÇ£Default ListΓÇ¥ button in the Preferences dialog.
  11. ΓÇó    If you hold down the Command key as you open the application, the ΓÇ£Open fileΓÇ¥ dialog appears, and you can choose which list file to load.
  12. Γê½Save Copy To
  13. ΓÇó    If records have been marked, you will be asked if you want to make a copy containing only the marked records or the unmarked records. This is useful if you wish to split a list, or give selected records to friends or co-workers who can then merge them into their existing lists using the Merge function.

  15. ΓÇó    Makes a safety copy of the list file, just in case the original is trashed.
